Precision Profile Ltd is a Dunedin based owned and operated company servicing many satisfied customers in and around Otago & Southland for over 25 years. Precision Profile offers a complete steel plate cutting service from the initial consultation, creating CAD drawings from a sketch, cardboard template or a customer’s idea to producing precise steel components. We can cut steel plate from 2mm to 200mm thick. 3.2 metres wide and a maximum length of 12.4 metres. Precision Profile carries a large stock of 2mm – 100mm steel plates in most grades and can source up to 200mm in selected grades. Click here to see our Stock List for more information. We also offer other services through several local engineering businesses. These include pressings, welding and machining. We can help manage your projects from start to finish.

We can help and advise you on your project to ensure you get the desired outcome. We can highlight any issues & find solutions.
CAD Design
From a sketch or cardboard template, we can convert your designs into 2D CAD drawings. These generate CNC paths used for high accuracy cutting, all drawings are kept on our secure data base to make repeat jobs quicker and easier for return customers. We value and respect our customer’s privacy, job details & drawings will not be given out unless permission is given by the customer to do so.
Plate Cutting
All our Plate is sourced from high quality suppliers to ensure a better quality part and outcome for the end customer. All Steel meets the AS/NZ 3678 Standard, Test Certificates can be supplied for all steel when requested.

Acceptable File Specifications
We have a few requirements with files submitted for cutting/quoting. We accept .dxf, .dwg, .nc1 and .nc files. We also accept .pdf files but the other four are preferred. All files should have no zero length lines, title blocks or duplicate entities.
Polylines and double lines are also not acceptable and all endpoints should join and not overlap. All drawings should be drawn 1:1 and ideally have a 1000mm reference included. All measurements should be in metric units to avoid confusion.
If there are any further processes necessary (eg. pressing, welding, powder coating etc.) then please include assembly drawings with all relevant information, including assembled dimensions, cross sections and bend angles inside dimensions.
